Bay Ship & Yacht (BSY) is a modern shipyard located in Alameda, CA on the waterfront of San Francisco Bay. We provide drydocking and repair services to most commercial and government vessels on the Bay, including tugboats, ferries, Coast Guard cutters, cruise ships, pilot boats, yachts, and marine vessels of all kinds. The great variety of marine vessels drydocked at our shipyard provides challenging and interesting work. Our diverse workforce of 350 employees includes skilled welders, painters, machinists, pipefitters, electricians, dockmen, and fabricators.
Controller
BSY has an immediate opening for the position of Controller. The Controller is responsible for all areas relating to financial preparation, financial analysis, and reporting. This position will report directly to our Chief Business Officer and will provide preparation work and analysis for publication of monthly financials and other management reports. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. The Controller will have contact with senior level management and external professionals which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.
Qualified Candidates for this Position Possess:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline REQUIRED - CPA HIGHLY DESIRED
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in financial reporting/ financial analysis, and general ledger maintenance
• ERP System conversion expertise
• Thorough understanding of GAAP
• Full cycle accounting experience
• Experience with construction cost accounting, HIGHLY DESIRED
• Prior Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable supervisory experience
• Accuracy in daily work
• Ability to analyze financials and provide insightful narrative for management reports
• Ability to effectively handle multiple projects in a deadline driven environment
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
