~Welders at Bay Ship & Yacht perform a wide variety of tasks, ranging from metal preparation and production welding to blueprint reading and fabrication. Welders are responsible for successfully completing all phases of metal work projects and are expected to achieve company and ABS certification for many individual welding procedures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Basic Skills
1.1 Competent in the operation of craft related hand tools (i.e. chipping hammers, tape measures and wrenches)
1.2 Competent in the operation of craft related handheld power tools (i.e. portable grinders)
1.3 Capable of basic rigging
2. Metal Work
2.1 Welding Certifications:
2.1.1 SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding)- in multiple positions
2.1.2 GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding)- in multiple positions
2.1.3 GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding)- in multiple positions
2.2 Capable of producing quality welded joints in both shop and shipboard environments
2.3 Responsible for preparing metal surfaces prior to welding
2.4 Capable to perform scrap-out, using cutting torch, grinders and Carbon Arc procedures
2.5 Able to read/ interpret blueprints and ships-drawings
2.6 Capable of performing layout, creating templates and fit-up for welding projects
