WELDER - SHIPFITTER

Welders-Shipfitters
Bay Ship & Yacht, on the water where San Francisco Bay meets the Oakland Estuary, is actively seeking skilled marine welders and shipfitters of all experience levels to join our team of high-performing workers. You will be expected to perform repair work and new fabrication of structures, all within the surroundings of this beautiful waterfront work-site. If you have welding/shipfitting experience and a desire to build or continue your career through training and innovation, there's a good chance that we're the right fit for you! We are currently seeking candidates with the following skills:
Qualified Candidates for this Position Possess:
- 5 years recent welding & fitting experience (within the Marine industry is preferred)
- Verifiable certification in welding methods FCAW and or SMAW of ½”-1” CS steel plate
- Ability to read and interpret drawings/blueprints
- Ability to take accurate readings/measurements for fitting tasks
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and move equipment
- Reliable transportation and availability to work overtime as requested
- Personal hand tools required to work within the craft
Skills Testing—Candidates must
pass a skill test involving FCAW, SMAW methods to be considered for hire. When scheduled, a candidate must bring the following personal tools for the testing process: a welding hood, stinger-electrode holder, gloves, slag-chipping hammer, wire brush, and grinder.
Work Environment—A Welder/Shipfitter is a production worker who will be working in an indoor/outdoor industrial environment where work is performed at elevated heights, in confined spaces, and the welder may be subjected to loud noises and fluctuating or extreme weather conditions.
