BAY SHIP & YACHT IS HIRING DOCKMEN
Bay Ship & Yacht, located on the water where the Oakland Estuary meets San Francisco Bay, is in need of a Dockman to work at Bay Ship's Drydocks in Alameda. Our ideal candidate is an experienced hard-working self-starter who, once trained on our operations, can work with minimal supervision and has the capability to work within a team environment You should also be one who enjoys the outdoors (after all...it's a shipyard!), fresh air, beautiful skies, occasional starry nights, and a little bit of rain!
Duties include:
- Building the blocking cradles on which the ship will be docked,,
- Floating the ships into the Drydocks
- Lifting the ships by floating the Drydock using the ballast pumps and/or the electric winches (the Shiplift)
In addition to the candidate being an experienced Dry-Dockman, mariners experienced in the handling and operations of ships, tugs and barges with the capacity to learn the Dockman Trade, will be considered.
Bay Ship & Yacht provides dry-docking and repair services to most of the commercial and government vessels on the Bay! The vessels include: Tugboats, ferries, Coast Guard cutters, cruise ships, pilot boats, yachts and marine vessels of all kinds. Our workforce includes skilled welders, painters, machinists, pipefitters, electricians, dockmen and fabricators. The great variety of marine vessels dry-docked in our yard makes for challenging and very interesting work!
All new-hires must provide identification to verify eligibility to work in the U.S., pass a pre-employment medical exam which includes a drug screening and physical abilities assessment.
We offer an excellent benefit package including paid vacation and holidays, a 401(k) profit sharing plan, as well as health, dental, and life insurance.
