BAY SHIP & YACHT IS HIRING AN ASSISTANT DOCKMASTER

Bay Ship & Yacht Co, located on the water where the Oakland Estuary meets San Francisco Bay, is in need of an Assistant Dockmaster.  Our ideal candidate is an experienced, hard-working self-starter who, once trained in our operations, can support our Senior Dockmaster with an equal level of energy and a can-do attitude. You should be one who enjoys the outdoors (after all…it’s a shipyard!), fresh air, beautiful skies, starry nights, and an occasional rain shower in the winter and spring.  Our dockings and undockings happen at all hours, in one of the most beautiful work settings one can imagine.

As an Assistant Dockmaster, you will ensure that boats arrive and depart successfully. Because you regularly communicate with boat captains, representatives, and docking crews, you must have strong interpersonal skills. Qualifications for this career include an understanding of marine operations, the ability to work in varying weather conditions at all hours of the day, and previous experience as a Dockmaster or Assistant in a high-volume (200–230 dockings and undockings per year) environment!

Your experience with Tugboats, Barges, Ships, Drydocks, AFDL Docks, commercial or sport diving, and Syncrolift boat lifts, will go a long way toward winning the position. And yet the intangibles may be the most important aspects we consider.  They include:
Bay Ship & Yacht provides Drydocking and repair services to most of the commercial and government vessels on San Francisco Bay. The vessels include: Tugboats, Ferries, Coast Guard Cutters and tenders, Tour Boats, Cruise Ships, Pilot Boats, Yachts, and other marine vessels of all kinds. Our workforce includes skilled welders, painters, machinists, pipefitters, electricians, dockmen, and fabricators. The great variety of vessels drydocked in our yard, makes for challenging and very interesting work. With our leading-edge facilities and some of the best-trained craftspeople available in the shipyard business today, Bay Ship & Yacht Co. has an unrivaled presence in the Marine Industry while focusing on its mission of “Absolute customer satisfaction to all customers”.

Bay Ship & Yacht Co. is an equal opportunity employer. Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or protected veteran status. You are protected by the Pay Transparency rule.

Qualified candidates will need the legal authorization to work for any employer in the US without requiring visa sponsorship. All new hires must provide identification to verify eligibility to work in the US, and must pass a pre-employment medical exam, which includes a drug screening and physical abilities assessment.

If you are a qualified individual with a disability or a disabled veteran, you have the right to request an accommodation if you are unable or limited in your ability to use or access our career center as a result of your disability.
