                               MARINE MACHINIST

 Bay Ship & Yacht is a modern shipyard located on the water in Alameda where the Estuary meets San Francisco Bay. We provide drydocking and repair services to most commercial and government vessels on the Bay, including tugboats, ferries, Coast Guard cutters, cruise ships, pilot boats, yachts, and marine vessels of all kinds. The great variety of marine vessels drydocked at our shipyard provides challenging and interesting work, in one of the most beautiful work settings in the Bay Area.

Marine Machinist

Bay Ship is actively seeking Marine Machinists who are experts in the installation and overhaul of shipboard machinery, including removal, repair/build, installation and alignment of propellers, shafts, bearings, engines, generators, and anchor windlasses. If you have machinist experience and a desire to continue your career through training and innovation, we just might be the right fit for you!

This is a skilled position requiring a full range of mechanical skills and knowledge in the construction and repair of tugboats, ferries, Coast Guard cutters, cruise ships, pilot boats, barges, and marine vessels of all kinds.

In addition to experienced Journeyman Marine Machinists, machinists with mechanical or shop backgrounds with the capacity to learn the Marine Machinist trade will be considered. Auto or diesel mechanics, shop machinists or shipboard operating engineers may be excellent candidates. and we are certainly willing to consider your background!

There are many situations -- such as understanding and following directions, emergencies, cooperative work assignments, or for supervisors to monitor an employee -- where a basic written and verbal knowledge of English as a common language is necessary to promote safety and efficiency. We therefore expect applicants to have this knowledge.
