Bay Ship & Yacht, the most interesting company to work for on the waterfront of San Francisco Bay, is seeking experienced candidates for its Valve Technician positions. Most of the yard’s projects, from small, quick turn-around jobs to major overhauls and refits, are supported by our pipefitters and valve technicians.
Bay Ship & Yacht provides dry-docking and repair services to most of the commercial and government vessels on the Bay, including tugboats, ferries, Coast Guard cutters, cruise ships, pilot boats, yachts, and marine vessels of all kinds. Our amazing workforce includes skilled welders, painters, machinists, electricians, dockmen, fabricators, and of course Pipefitters and Valve Technicians! These workers go about their challenging and interesting tasks in the most beautiful setting where the waters of San Francisco Bay meet the Oakland Estuary! Not many workers in the Bay Area have the opportunity to work on the Bay waters where magnificent views abound…but our workers do!
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have minimum 3 years’ Industrial plumbing experience identifying various valves, removing, disassembling, evaluating (inspecting), overhauling, lapping, blue-fitting, reassembling, testing and installing.
- Good mechanical aptitude.
- Must be able to communicate, write and read specifications and provide written, verbal and detailed findings for repairs, overhauls or replacement of particular valves.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces, voids, ladders, high spaces, limited space work areas. Must be willing to climb and descend ladders, climb into limited access spaces.
- Must have some rigging experience and be able to manually lift 50 lbs.
- Must follow specific directions and have understand piping systems and its working properties.
- Must provide own hand tools and associated craft tools.
- Must be competent using power tools such as grinder, bandsaws, drills, impacts and other craft power tools.
