Bay Ship is actively seeking experienced Outside Machinists, who will be responsible for the installation and overhaul of shipboard machinery, including removal, repair/build, installation and alignment of propellors, shafts, bearings, engines, generators, and anchor windlasses. If you have machinist experience and a desire to continue your career through training and innovation, we just might be the right fit for you!
This is a skilled position requiring a full range of mechanical skills and knowledge in the construction and repair of tugboats, ferries, Coast Guard cutters, cruise ships, pilot boats, barges, and marine vessels of all kinds.
Millwrights, shop machinists or shipboard operating engineers may be excellent candidates and we are certainly willing to consider your background!
There are many situations -- such as understanding and following directions, emergencies, cooperative work assignments, or for supervisors to monitor an employee -- where a basic written and verbal knowledge of English as a common language is necessary to promote safety and efficiency. We therefore expect applicants to have this knowledge.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment medical evaluation at the company’s designated testing facility.
