Bay Ship & Yacht (BSY) has an immediate job opening for the position of Site Control Technician (SCT). This unique hands-on position primarily supports our Structural Department in the mobilization, set-up, maintenance, and demobilization of equipment for an array of projects. The Site Control Technician’s work contributes to the productivity at the job site by minimizing downtime due to equipment problems...in short, they have the aptitude and experience to fix things quickly and correctly! If you have mechanical chops, basic electrical knowledge, and/or welding experience coupled with the desire to build your career through training and innovation, this just might be the position you're looking for!
Duties for the position include, but are not limited to:
- Job Site Mobilization and Demobilization
- Study and achieve a full understanding of job requirements.
- Plan the job site set-up.
- Prepare a list of all required equipment & consumables.
- Assemble and take inventory of all equipment & consumables.
- Transport all equipment to the job site.
- Set up all equipment for optimum production efficiency.
- At job completion inventory, organize and return all equipment to Prod Spt.
- Complete the clean-up and close-out of the job site.
2. Job Site Control
- Check-out and light-up all equipment prior to the start of the production shift.
- Monitor & maintain equipment in proper working order.
- Repair or replace equipment as required.
- Monitor & maintain the job site in a safe, efficient and orderly condition.
- Restock consumables as required.
- Minimize worker downtime; maximize production.
- Supervise lock-up of tools and shut-down of equipment at the shift end.
- Ensure that the next shift has tools & equipment required and a well-organized job site.
3.
Safety
- Work with Leadmen to continuously maintain an OSHA-safe worksite.
- Provide Competent Person services as required.
- Provide First Aid services as required.
- Provide OSHA standards expertise; eliminate worksite safety hazards.
- Ensure that full Fire Safety protection is always maintained.
- Accomplish the requirements of the Tank Entry Control Set-up Team procedures as required.
4.
Tools, Equipment and Consumables
- Provide on-site equipment repair service.
- Promptly maintain and repair equipment as necessary to minimize downtime.
- Replace equipment that requires shop repair and ensure that it gets repaired.
- Keep a stock of parts and backup equipment required to minimize downtime.
- Stock and maintain consumables at required inventory levels.
- Ensure that the equipment is properly controlled and returned to Production Support.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Mechanical experience.
- Equipment maintenance and repair experience.
- Basic electrical experience.
- Ability to lift 70lbs and the capability to move equipment.
- The capabilities to work as a part of a part of a team, and to accomplish tasks individually.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Personal hand tools required to work within the craft.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Recent welding or welding school experience.
