Person In Charge-(PIC)
Bay Ship & Yacht, a modern shipyard located on the waterfront of San Francisco Bay in Alameda, CA, has an immediate opening for a Person In charge (PIC).
The PIC is part of the PIC Team, and responsible for the safe conduction of Over the Water Liquid Transfers (OWLT). S/he is also responsible for the safe setup and the abatement of lead coated surfaces. This individual should be detail oriented, dependable, and safety conscience. The PIC has the potential to greatly reduce risk to the company and its employees as part of
the 21st Century Shipyard.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.
Over the Water Liquid Transfer
- Perform all aspects of OWLT evolutions IAW the OWLT procedure, including the setup, transfer, breakdown, cleaning, and documentation. As required, be present and provide oversight for customer related OWLT evolutions.
- Properly use and perform routine maintenance for OWLT related tools & equipment.
- Perform Qualitative water-in-fuel tests and other measurements as required.
2.
Lead Abatement
- Properly identify and protect areas for lead abatement.
- Perform lead abatement process IAW the BS&Y lead abatement procedure, and any applicable regulations.
- Properly use and perform maintenance on lead abatement equipment
- As required, work with Production Management to support various work processes throughout BS&Y facilities and on BS&Y projects.
- Under the direction of the PIC Superintendent or other Safety Management, complete safety related tasks in support of shipyard operations.
Position Requirements:
- Complete in-house PIC training course and a minimum of 48 hours documented OJT.
- Complete Lead Abatement Training
- Complete Confined Space Entry Training
- Have basic knowledge and experience with hand-tools and power tools.
- Able to clearly communicate, both verbally and written.
- Able to lift and pull 50 lbs
- Able to stand on feet for long periods
- Able to work independently
- Able to wear respiratory protection
