Hydraulic Mechanics understand and troubleshoot hydraulic systems and have the skills and ability to disassemble and repair hydraulic cylinders, pumps, motors, valves, hoses and other pieces of equipment associated with the system. They remove hydraulic components from their location, overhaul, manufacture, bench test, reinstall, and operationally test components.
Duties for the position include, but are not limited to:
- Safely performing work in a shop and in a maritime, industrial environment with minimal supervision.
- Being familiar with OSHA and CAL OSHA safety regulations that include: Working at heights, Lifting & Rigging, Hot Work, and Lock-Out/Tag-Out requirements.
- Locating, identifying, removing, disassembling, testing, reinstalling, and conducting final customer acceptance tests on hydraulic components.
- Proficiency in opening, cleaning, and inspecting hydraulic components in a shop, shipboard, and in an industrial environment.
- Manufacturing and bench testing new hydraulic hoses from customer-provided samples.
- Filling out customer reports describing findings and recommendations for repairs.
- Coordinating with Machine Shop and Fabrication Shop on repairs to components, and on reassembly ready for test.
- Directly interacting with clients on issues, capabilities, and quotes, so professional communication skills are extremely important.
- Operating test equipment and performing pressure bench tests on overhauled components.
- Performing accurate inspections and verification of product, utilizing basic Quality Control measuring tools, and then recording the findings.
- Reading and understanding hydraulic schematics.
- Routinely conducting off-site hydraulic work, primarily in and around the San Francisco Bay Area.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3-5 Years of experience as a Hydraulic Technician or Hydraulic Mechanic.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail oriented, reliable, responsible, with the ability to work independently.
- Previous work experience in an ISO 9001 fabrication shop is a plus.
- Possession of a TWIC card or, having the capability to obtain one upon employment.
