MARINE ELECTRICIAN
CA - Alameda
Marine Electrician
Bay Ship & Yacht, located on the water where the Oakland Estuary meets San Francisco Bay, is in need of a highly skilled Marine Electrician with expert-level experience in shipboard electrical systems and equipment. This position requires the individual to have extensive experience in troubleshooting and in handling the removal, installation, repair, and rebuild, of shipboard electrical equipment and components. Must also be experienced with reading and producing the necessary documentation, (i.e., drawings, diagrams, forms, and reports). Our ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision and has the capability to lead a small crew. You should also be one who enjoys the outdoors (after all...it's a shipyard!), fresh air, beautiful skies, occasional starry nights, and a little bit of rain!
Requirements for the position include:
- Minimum of 4 years marine and/or industrial electrical experience,
- Skilled in 480, and 208 vac 3 phase systems
- Skilled in the use of various test equipment (Megger, VOM, Amp-meters, etc.)
- Experience in troubleshooting, repair, and installation of motors and motor controls
- Experience in performing and documenting operational testing of various electrical equipment
- Comprehension of schematic diagrams, technical manuals, and the ability to create hand-drawn diagrams of disconnected and/or removed electrical equipment, and the availability to work late afternoons, early mornings, and weekends as needed (This flexibility with your schedule is a must)
Bay Ship & Yacht provides dry-docking and repair services to most of the commercial and government vessels on the Bay! The vessels include: Tugboats, ferries, Coast Guard cutters, cruise ships, pilot boats, yachts and marine vessels of all kinds. Our workforce includes skilled welders, painters, machinists, pipefitters, electricians, dockmen and fabricators. The great variety of marine vessels dry-docked in our yard makes for challenging and very interesting work!
